Kids' Friday Morning Activities

Fridays | June 24 – August 19
10:30 am – 12:00 noon
Ages 4 to 12 years old | $5.00 per child
One adult (free admission) must accompany children

On Friday mornings from 10:30 to noon kids are learning about the Steamboat Era at the Steamboat Era Museum. During the age-appropriate tours everyone gets a chance to turn the wheel and ring the bell in the pilot house, play games popular during the steamboat era and make a wood steamboat which they test in the water!

Activities:

  • Learn about the Steamboat Era on the Chesapeake Bay
  • View photos of children and adults from the Steamboat Era
  • Turn the pilothouse wheel and ring the engine order telegraph bell
  • Play children’s games popular during the Steamboat Era
  • Make a wooden steamboat and try it in the water

Here’s How to Participate!

Kids’ activities are held on Friday mornings June 24 through August 19, from 10:30 to noon at the museum. Ages 4 to 12 years old Children must be accompanied by an adult. The fee is $5 per child. Adult(s) are free for the tours.

Parents, Grandparents, Guardians and Friends Bring children to the Steamboat Era Museum to learn the history of how Chesapeake steamboats changed the area and how they worked. They will have fun imagining what a steamboat trip was like and what being a child over a century ago entailed.
